Uses two set screws on the bearing inner race that are tightened to grip the shaft to achieve a secure hold and installs into a standard duty housings. Silicon Nitride has a good combination of mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. It is extremely hard and has exceptional thermal shock, impact resistance, and high-temperature capabilities, with high creep, oxidation, and wear resistance but is exceptionally light in weight. Its low thermal and electrical conductivity is especially useful in applications where corrosion, electric or magnetic fields prohibit the use of metals. It is an excellent choice when high-temperature and high-load abilities are needed. However, it has a very low rate of thermal expansion that must be accommodated to prevent excessive tensile stress on the inner race.
